Oʻahu is often the first stop for families, thanks to Honolulu’s international airport and an island packed with experiences designed for kids and adults to enjoy together. From exciting shows and marine life encounters to gentle beaches perfect for little swimmers, here are six keiki-friendly activities on Oʻahu.

Sea Life Park Hawaiʻi

On Oʻahu’s rugged windward coastline, Sea Life Park Hawaiʻi is a favorite spot for keiki to connect with marine life. Families can watch dolphins leap, meet sea lions, and even dance hula with dolphins swimming just beyond the stage.

Interactive programs allow kids to feed or interact with animals, while conservation exhibits teach the importance of protecting Hawaiʻi’s oceans. For adventurous families, there’s even the chance to snorkel with reef sharks in a safe, controlled environment.

Kids love a little magic, and parents appreciate entertainment that keeps everyone engaged. The 60-seat theater is intimate and stroller-friendly. The high-energy performance combines classic illusions with plenty of audience interaction, making it one of those rare events where keiki are just as enthralled as their parents.

With close to 2,000 five-star reviews on TripAdvisor, The Magical Mystery Show! is a well-vetted experience. One recent guest raved, “I still don't understand how he did all of those tricks, but it was amazing!!!! I recommend it for every age! So funny and lighthearted.”

Oʻahu’s beaches are world-famous, but not all are ideal for little swimmers. Here are the top spots where calm waters, soft sand and family-friendly amenities make for a perfect day at the beach.

Waikīkī Beach

Perhaps Hawaiʻi’s most famous beach, Waikīkī is also one of the most kid-friendly. Shallow, gentle waves make it a safe place for beginners to splash or try surfing lessons. The area is loaded with amenities, such as restrooms, food and surfboard rentals, making it convenient for families.
