Līhu'e Airport (LIH) is the main airport on Kaua'i. For travelers flying internationally, you will connect through Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu on O'ahu before continuing to Kaua'i. LIH primarily serves interisland travel and some domestic flights to the continental U.S.
LIH provides interisland flights to the following neighbor island airports:
Kahului Airport and Hana Airport on Maui
Kona International Airport at Keahole on Hawaiʻi Island
There are no direct flights from Kauaʻi to Hilo, Lānaʻi or Molokaʻi. You must connect through Oʻahu to reach those islands.
Līhuʻe Airport opened in 1950. Prior to that, flights came through Port Allen Airport on the West Side. The new location, 1.5 miles east of Līhuʻe, was chosen for being the most central point on Kauaʻi and nearest to Oʻahu.

Rental car facilities are located a short ride from the terminal. Exit the airport, walk across the street to the rental car pickup area and catch a shuttle to your rental car company. Shuttles arrive about every five minutes.
There are 8 rental car companies located at the airport including:
Advantage Rent A Car
Alamo Rent-A-Car
Avis Rent-A-Car
Budget Rent-A-Car
Dollar Rent-A-Car
Enterprise Rent-A-Car
Hertz Rent-A-Car
National Rent-A-Car
We recommend renting a car no matter where you are staying on Kaua'i, but if you are staying in Līhuʻe and don't plan on leaving the resort for sightseeing, you can take an inexpensive rideshare from the airport to your hotel.
Check with your hotel before arriving if they offer shuttle service from the airport. Many do.
The public bus runs from Kekaha to Hanalei and has two routes that stop at the airport. The bus stop is located in the median in front of the Terminal.
