If you’re traveling to Maui for beach activities, food festivals or concerts, summer is the best time to visit. The weather is warm and clear and there are events islandwide almost every week.

Aloha kākou,
Although I live on Oʻahu, I island-hop to Maui often. Over the past several years, I've watched Maui go through the pandemic, the 2023 wildfires and more recently the Kona Low storms. It's been a tough run for Hawaiʻi's second most-visited island (after Oʻahu). But with adversity comes community support and resilience. Lāhainā is being rebuilt and has welcomed back visitors, Wailea continues to lead the way for luxury stays in Hawaiʻi and Hāna-Maui Resort celebrates its 80th anniversary this year along with the Road to Hāna's 100th anniversary.
Maui also has an exceptional dining scene, from food trucks to high-end and everything in between. These are my favorite restaurants, but I encourage you to go out and explore on your own. Pair restaurant-hopping with a farm tour and you might almost forget to go to the beach.
Whatever activities you plan for your summer stay, I just encourage you to shop and eat local as much as possible. The mom-and-pop spots get hit the hardest during rough economic times and we have to continue to frequent them, so they are still there next time you return.
Have fun on Maui and happy summer!
—Sarah
